Country artist Garth Brooks has publicly stated that his new establishment, Friends in Low Places, a bar and honky-tonk in Nashville, will not participate in the boycott against Bud Light.
During a Q&A session at Billboard Country Live, the two-time Grammy winner addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Bud Light. He expressed his vision for his business, saying, “I want it to be a place you feel safe in. I want it to be a place that you feel like there are manners and people love one another.”
Brooks went on to confirm, “And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are.”
The Bud Light boycott emerged following the company’s collaboration with trans TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney for a marketing campaign, leading to backlash from some right-wing individuals. Kid Rock, known for his conservative views, even posted a video of himself shooting cans and cases of Bud Light with an automatic rifle.
While Kid Rock and fellow country artist John Rich chose to suspend the sale of Bud Light at their bars along Nashville’s Broadway, Garth Brooks emphasized that Friends in Low Places, slated to open this summer, will prioritize an atmosphere of love rather than hostility.
“Our thing is this: if you come into this house, love one another,” Brooks stated. “If you’re an asshole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway to go.”
