Sage Steele rips Megan Rapinoe for saying there is no God: ‘Narcissism at its finest’

Sage Steele and Megan Rapinoe can’t get along.

Days after Rapinoe claimed a potential Achilles injury in the final match of her professional career was “proof that there isn’t” a God, the former “SportsCenter” host tore into the controversial U.S. Women’s National Team star on X.

“Narcissism at its finest,” Steele posted Monday.

Rapinoe and Steele have long been vocal about their beliefs — often on opposite sides of the debate — and it appears the 38-year-old athlete’s comments hit a sore spot with the ex-ESPN personality.

Steele’s X profile says she’s a “Believer” with a cross emoji, indicating that religion is an important part of her life.Rapinoe’s now-viral remark came Saturday after Gotham FC defeated her OL Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League Championship, 2-1.

Rapinoe went down in the sixth minute with a non-contact injury and said she believed she tore her Achilles.

“I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a God, like, this is proof that there isn’t,” Rapinoe said. “This is f–ked up. It’s just f–ked up. Six minutes in and I eat my Achilles.”

Saturday’s game was the last of Rapinoe’s career.“Everyone is always like, ‘Who kicked me?’ And obviously, no one was even around me, and I was pressing,” Rapinoe said of her injury, according to The Seattle Times. “That’s what it felt like. Just a huge pop and I can’t even feel where the Achilles is, but pretty sure I tore my Achilles. The worst possible outcome.”

She added: “Thank God I have a f–king deep well of a sense of humor. It’s devastating to go out in a final so early.”Rapinoe and Steele already had some beef in July.

Rapinoe criticized Steele and others for their “bulls–t” views regarding transgender athletes, saying it played a role in violence against transgender people. Steele fired back at Rapinoe in response to a tweet from Sam Ponder on the topic, in which the “Sunday NFL Countdown” host noted that blaming Steele and others was “absurd.”

“Yes Sam…it’s absurd. And predictable!,” Steele tweeted. “This is what happens when ppl allow their emotions to get in the way of FACTS & SCIENCE. Esp when they’re fighting to keep a false narrative alive. You said it best after Armour attacked you: “biology is not bigotry” #SaveWomensSports.”
