The View got in some more brutal digs at former president Donald Trump this morning after he was fined $10,000 by a New York judge for violating a gag order. On today’s episode, the panel not only accused Trump of being dishonest about his finances, but also called him out for his lack of intelligence.
Joy Behar led the charge, mocking the one-term POTUS for comparing himself to Nelson Mandela in comments he made earlier this week.
At a rally in New Hampshire on Monday (Oct. 23), Trump told the crowd, “I don’t mind being Nelson Mandela, because I’m doing it for a reason,” referring to the numerous criminal charges he is facing, per CNN.
Behar couldn’t resist mentioning the absurd remark on Thursday’s episode of The View, telling the panel, “He is the definition of chutzpah, this guy. Like last week, I was reading he compared himself to Nelson Mandela, who I don’t think was dating a porn star, by the way.”
“Nelson Mandela, of all people! Who spent his life fighting,” she continued, as Whoopi Goldberg hopped in to shade Trump, adding, “He doesn’t know who Nelson Mandela is. He has no idea, no idea. I guarantee it.”
Behar continued, “But there’s irony of it that he would compare himself to a man who spent his life defending civil right, and Trump’s family refused to rent to Black people. That is the definition of chutzpah.”
Later in the segment, Behar suggested Trump wouldn’t even be able to pay the fine he’d been issued by the judge.“I don’t think he can afford the $10,000. We know he’s broke,” she said, and Sunny Hostin agreed, simply declaring, “He’s broke.”
As Hostin read off a legal note clarifying that Trump has denied criminal wrongdoing, Behar chimed in, “Chutzpah!” and added “More chutzpah!” as Hostin noted that Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges in all four cases he is involved with.
