Country music fans in Oklahoma City, Okla. Friday night were surprised when Jason Aldean, playing the Paycom Center, invited a hometown legend to join him on stage for a duet.
“There’s only one guy that you kinda think of when you come to Oklahoma City,” Aldean addressed the crowd. “Make some noise for the Big Dawg Daddy, Toby Keith!”
The recent Country Icon Award winner, who has been public with his battle against stomach cancer since 2021, joined Aldean on stage to excited cheers from the audience.”I’m on my rehab tour,” Keith quipped. “If I’m not at my bar, I’m down at Hollywood Corners or I’m on stage with Jason Aldean. The Almighty’s been riding shotgun and my ass is ready to get back to work!”
The two then launched into a duet of Keith’s 1991 breakout hit, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”
“Sometimes you just have one of those special nights that you will never forget. I had one of those tonight in Oklahoma City,” Aldean wrote on Instagram after the show, sharing some photos of the onstage fun. “Thank you to a true f—ing legend Toby Keith for coming out tonite. Mad respect and u brought the house down big Dawg!”
