Could Whoopi Goldberg be making her debut on ABCโs โShark Tankโ as an investor?
During a taping of โThe View,โ which aired on Tuesday, Oct. 17, co-host Sara Haines asked about the interest of adding Goldberg to the cast of โShark Tankโ judges, which includes Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Kevin OโLeary, Robert Herjavec, and Daymond John.
โNow Barbara, you have a lot of great guest โSharksโ this season, but I heard you really pushed for someone we know to be a guest โSharkโ on the show. Who is it and why do you think she would make a successful โShark,’โ Haines asked.Corcoran said, โWell, that would be Whoopi. No one would argue with me. She tells it like it is. She spots peopleโs personalities.โ
The audience and โSharksโ broke out in excitement, chanting Whoopiโs name.
โYeah Whoopi, youโd be a great โShark,’โ noted Cuban.
Goldberg commented, โLook, I love this show.โ
OโLeary then joked Goldberg would need to โjust bring $100 millionโ to get involved. The fundamental idea of the show is for judges to evaluate startups in need of funding.
She responded, โThere is the problem โ if I could do it with ABCโs money.โ
Despite Goldbergโs current hesitations, Corcoran points out that her compassionate attitude toward helping others would qualify her as an excellent judge and business partner.
โEvery great โSharkโ weโve had stems from the heart, they really want to help people, and thatโs what you have,โ Corcoran expressed. โWho wouldnโt want to have you as their partner?โ
Only time will tell whether Goldberg takes them up on the offer. However, for now, she remains seated as a co-host on โThe View,โ a position she has held since 2007. According to OK Magazine, she earns $8 million annually from the show.
