Former ESPN reporter blasts Lia Thomas, Rapinoe, and Griner for ‘dissenting’ hypocrisy

Former ESPN host Charly Arnolt blasted WNBA star Brittney Griner, transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, and professional soccer player Megan Rapinoe for “dissenting” hypocrisy.

Arnolt, who left ESPN in April for conservative digital media company OutKick, said athletes who stand for the participation of biological men who identify as transgender women in women’s sports are not considering the reality of their own sports journeys.

“Brittney Griner should be very thankful that she wouldn’t have had that obstacle leading up to this point because she might not be playing in the WNBA if she would have,” Arnolt told the Daily Mail.

Arnolt criticized Griner calling it a “crime” to ban biological males from women’s sports.“I also think that just calling it a crime is taking it one step further, and that’s the scary part, is now it’s not just saying, ‘Oh, this is wrong,’ we’re criminalizing,” she noted. “It’s very much the Left’s disposition to take dissenting viewpoints and criminalize them.”

The former ESPN host also blasted Thomas, a biological male swimmer who identifies as a woman and swam for the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team, for being the “biggest bigot that I have encountered in recent times because [Thomas] is forcing [the swimmer’s] own beliefs onto other people and saying that if you don’t believe in this, then you’re a hateful person.”

Arnolt suggested Thomas was “a mediocre athlete, in terms of male competition,” before deciding to compete as a woman.“You are built differently than a woman,” she added. “Anyone who tries to make the argument that there is a gender spectrum, you can believe whatever you want, but science will tell you, the DNA will tell you, there was a man, and there was a woman.”

Arnolt added that Rapinoe’s call for including transgender athletes in women’s sports was also hypocritical.“Suddenly, she’s turning around after she retires from playing for the national team and says, ‘Yeah, I totally, I totally believe that males should be able to play with women,’” Arnolt said. “She’s promoted equality and women’s rights, and the ability to be able to share in their success, that is almost completely the opposite to what she’s put forth.”

Arnolt has said she is committed to speaking out on behalf of those women athletes who are “too scared” out of fear they might be canceled.

“You really have to look at why this is getting to be such a slippery slope,” Arnolt previously said. “Right now, a lot of the instances in the crossover we’re seeing with trans athletes are in individual sports. What happens when it starts happening in contact sports? Basketball, soccer, field hockey. Then we’re not talking about hurt feelings. We’re talking about potentially life-threatening injuries.”
