Known as one of the best NFL players, Tom Brady announced his retirement on February 1, 2023. A year earlier, he had told his fans he was retiring but returned six weeks later. However, this time, the quarterback did not change his decision.
Brady recently took to Instagram to celebrate his mother Galynn’s milestone. Galynn, who shares a close bond with her son, recently turned 78. Brady’s carousel post featured a solo image of his mother and four pictures of her with his family members, including his father and three children.
Brady posted the photos on July 4, 2023, with a heartfelt birthday wish for the “best mom.” Feeling happy that many people in the country felt excited and set off fireworks on the same day as his mother’s birthday, Brady said:
“We love you so much, Mom, and we appreciate all you have done and continue to do for us! Have the best day, and we are all so blessed to have you in our life!”
In the photos, Brady’s fans saw his eldest child Jack, 15, whom he welcomed with his ex, Bridget Moynahan, and his two children, Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10, whom he fathered with his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen. The kids happily posed with their elderly grandmother, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2016.
Who Are Tom Brady’s Parents?
Brady’s mother grew up in Browerville, Minnesota, where she was popular among her friends and schoolmates. The then-young Galynn studied at Browerville High and became the homecoming queen in 1961.“She was so social, a friend to everyone, and everybody liked her,” her junior at school, Mayor Heid, said about her. After completing her education, Brady’s mother moved to California, where his father, Tom Sr., began his insurance firm, Thomas Brady and Associates.
Brady’s father graduated from the University of San Francisco before working for eight years and later founding his firm. He married Galynn on April 19, 1969, and lived with her in their San Mateo, California, house.
Despite having a son who rose to fame and became a millionaire, Galynn and Tom Sr. reportedly still live a simple life in the home where they spent their lives raising the NFL player and his three sisters. On his parents’ 52nd wedding anniversary, Brady posted a photo of them with their children and grandchildren and wrote a heartfelt caption. “52 years of marriage is an amazing accomplishment!” Brady stated, adding that he was happy to have them as “incredible role models” for the entire family.
Tom Brady Supported His Mother in Her Fight against Cancer
In June 2016, Galynn’s world turned upside down when she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. In an interview, she revealed she had “a very fast-growing, aggressive kind of cancer,” which required many radiation and chemotherapy sessions.Galynn’s chemotherapy began in September and continued for the next five months. As a result, Brady couldn’t see his mother during that time because of his busy schedule. However, he stayed in touch with her through calls.
His father said he talked to them “on an extraordinarily regular basis” and always wanted to know what was happening while he wasn’t around. As Galynn’s treatment progressed, she began losing her hair, but her son made sure not to let her feel bad about it. While talking to her on video calls, Brady told her she looked “so beautiful.”
Since Galynn was undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, she wasn’t allowed to travel, which made it seem like she wouldn’t make it to the Super Bowl. It was only a day before her flight that the doctors allowed her to go. She said:
“I just wanted to be there for Tommy, and I wanted to be there with our family.”The NFL network later talked about Brady’s special Super Bowl game, stating that “it was all for his mom.” Soon after attending her son’s game, Galynn won her battle against cancer, and her treatment ended.
